Q: What led you and Allegra into the business of floral design?

A: During my time in college, I was working at a small shop in Laramie, Wyoming. I worked at the shop for nearly four years and absolutely fell in love with the craft. When the shop needed to hire more help, I instantly thought of my, at the time, new friend Allegra! Allegra started working at the shop, and she was clearly destined for the world of floral design. Once the two of us began working together, we started to build our dreams towards our mutual goals. Starting my own mobile flower shop had been a dream of mine from very early on in my floral career, and Allegra had always been driven towards the arts, with tangible art being something of her forte - flowers quickly became a serious passion and dream for her as well. All of that passion, drive, and unfaltering teamwork is what led us to where we are today!

Q: I’d love to hear a little more about your business because you do more than just weddings, correct?

A: Yes! We are a specialty mobile flower truck. We offer a variety of services ranging from weddings and floral subscriptions, to design classes. Our goal with our truck and the event side of our business is to bring unique and creative flowers and designs to Cheyenne and the Rocky Mountain region. Once our truck is open full time we will offer wrapped and vase bouquets for daily sale. Our dream is to revolutionize and pivot the floral world and the public’s mindset surrounding flowers!

Q: How do you approach creating a floral design for a wedding?

A: The first step in our design process is the most crucial. Meeting for an in person consultation allows us the opportunity to truly learn about our couple and their unique personalities and needs far beyond anything we could learn from a phone call or email. From there we send the couple an itemized quote that represents everything we have discussed in their consultation to give everyone a clear and agreed upon picture of what the big day will look like. Once we book the wedding we spend several hours curating a detailed order list, plan out all of the stems we will need and gather any supplies that we don’t already have in the design studio. Once the design day comes it is a full day of work for us! For each wedding we assign a “lead” designer. This person is in charge of the bridal bouquet, and ultimately sets the tone and creative direction for the entire event. With just the two us on our team this delegation of tasks is very important, the workload can be pretty daunting so keeping ourselves organized is vital to our success. We work as a unit and keep a good energy in our design space with music playing and a lot of light. Having a positive atmosphere is invaluable and allows us to really embrace our creativity.

Q: Do you have any top tips for couples when they are trying to find the right wedding florist?

A: One of the most important things is communication. Good communication with our clients is a must and a huge priority. Having a florist that keeps you in the loop and tailors your floral experience specifically to you is something that we understand the importance of and focus on with every couple. Liking a florist’s design style and creative and artistic point of view is another very important factor in making the right choice for you. A good florist will know and suggest a variety of flowers that they believe will suit your vision the best as well as have a body of work for you to reference before making your final choice. Lastly, trust is key! If you are impressed by a florists portfolio, giving them the freedom to take your ideas and run with them is what will result in the best outcome. The best florists are also artists. When sitting down for a consultation it’s best to have a pretty solid idea of what florals you need, but also to be open to the idea of using florals for more of your decorations. A florist should be one of the first vendors you talk to, their input can really help you craft your wedding decorations from the ground up.

Q: What are some creative ideas for where couples can use flowers in their ceremony & reception spaces ?

A: Trends that we’ve been loving lately are all flower based centerpieces, cake flowers all around the base of the cake rather than on the cake, unique flower girl petals, and all around just utilizing flowers as the beautiful decorations they truly are. Something that it seems like a lot of couples are doing lately is cutting their floral budget to increase decor budgets when in reality using flowers as decor will save the couple time, money, and stress. Using flowers to decorate your wedding space means you won't have to order extra decor and you won’t have to worry about setting things up yourself. Flowers can be tailored to fit the space and complement it perfectly. Something that can be very hard to accomplish on your own, and putting your trust in the hands of your florist can remove all of that stress. Flowers are gorgeous and when used artistically and generously they will make a space look elegant with minimal help from accent decor.

Q: Do you have any suggestions for brides struggling to decide on a color palate or flower choices?

A: Color palates are everything right now! Flowers are natural and unpredictable. One day you can order stunning yellow butterfly ranunculus and it will blow you away and the next you can’t get it or it looks scares and bare - definitely not what you want for your wedding flowers. Being open to a color palate ensures that your flowers will match your wedding colors, look as gorgeous and they possibly can be and blow you away! We as your florists have the advantage of talking regularly and in advance with the flower wholesaler to know what is looking best right now and what will match the vision and colors the best. Knowing what season your wedding is in and what your venue will look like helps this color and flower decision a ton! Flowers are seasonal and you can’t always get peonies in late summer and you’re lucky if you see them before April, there’s also the transitional season from wholesale to local growers and a lot of flowers are in and out of markets so quickly it can be difficult to catch them. Your venue will also decide a lot on what colors will complement the space. For example, if the ceremony space for your wedding has tons of pink tones or red tones you want a color that will be complementary to the colors.

Q: What are you loving right now?

A: Right now we’re really loving unique and uncommon blooms. One of the biggest compliments we receive about our designs is our use of flowers that no one has seen or doesn’t see a lot of. A few of our favorites are queen protea, ginger, and the under appreciated coxcomb!

Q: How can brides find and book you?

A: Find us on instagram and facebook!! We work with our graphic designer to keep our social media up to date with our recent work and what we have been up to. We are also in the process of building a wedding gallery for our website! We have a dedicated page and consultation form available for brides to complete. This is the best way to contact us for a wedding and will provide us all of the information we need to begin the pre-consultation process. We do our best to respond to any inquiries we receive within 48 hours…during busy seasons it can be a bit of a stretch, but we make sure that we get in touch with our clients within a week as our absolute max.
